Being in the middle of a deer rut surrounded by roaring stags and clash of antlers is truly magical. On the island of Smøla there is a good population of red deer with some of the biggest stags in this part of Norway. During the trip our guides will take you out to the best areas for rutting red deer action. The deer rut activity peaks at dusk and dawn and we will position ourselves to be at the best possible locations during these periods. These areas are easily accessible and you will not need to hike for long distances to get there. We need to dress up in camouflaged clothing, to avoid get as close as possible to the animals. We recommend photo equipment with good low-light capability as the light conditions can be challenging.
